THE FLOOD

The sculptures The Tides and Reflection together compose the series The Flood. The works are interpretations of my memory of the seasonal flooding of my childhood home in Chetumal, Mexico. Specifically, I remember waking up the night of the flood and seeing the upside down image of my room reflected on the water’s surface, illuminated by the moonlight. In my works, the refection of the water becomes a reflection in glass which fragments and distorts the form of a bed and a table.

THE MAKING OF THE TIDES

I use glass in many of my works and I always work with a family-owned glass business in the historic center of Mexico City. Here are some photos of the fabrication of The Tides.
